Daliah is passionate about equipping women with the information to understand their symptoms – and we pay particular attention to scientifically proven solutions that are practical and accessible for most women. Our goal is to positively power you through your menopause journey!

There is a growing body of research that suggests that how a society perceives and responds to menopause, can impact the severity of symptoms that a woman experiences. In societies that embrace aging and view menopause positively, women perceive their symptoms less severely. And in societies where there are negative perceptions or stigmas linked to menopause and aging, women report more severe experiences of their menopause symptoms. This is why it’s so important to smash the stigmas and taboos about menopause, so we can build a menopositive society.
There are some things that every woman can do to improve her overall health levels – which can set you up for a better experience during your menopause transition, and may help to ease the impact of menopause-related symptoms. These are things you’ve probably heard about before and may already be doing some – or all – of them. But it’s worth a quick reminder before going into the details of each symptom.

Drink enough water

Keeping well-hydrated can help support the condition of your skin, hair, and nails. Getting sufficient water every day also keeps your body and brain functioning well.

Most experts suggest drinking 2l of water a day – but be guided by your body’s own needs.

Exercise regularly

In addition to the physical benefits of exercise, such as heart health, keeping your weight in check, and building a strong body – exercise also causes your brain to release endorphins (the feel-good chemicals) which can help to lift your mood too.

Follow a healthy diet

Now, more than ever, your body needs a healthy and balanced diet to support it through the changes that menopause brings.

A healthy diet can also help manage some of the symptoms commonly experienced during the menopause transition. Read more about specific diet options, where relevant, on the symptom pages below.

Supplement where needed

Modern diets don’t always give us all the nutrients our bodies need – and sometimes, we may need extra nutrients to help deal with the stresses associated with menopause.

We have provided some guidance, based on scientific evidence, for supplements that may help with easing menopause-related symptoms. Click on the symptoms below to find specific recommendations, where evidence suggests they may help.

Get a good night’s sleep

There’s a strong connection between sleep, metabolism, mood, weight gain and how well your brain functions. So a good night’s sleep can help you manage a number of symptoms.

But we also know that insomnia and sleep disturbances are common during the menopause transition – so this can be really hard to achieve! There are tips and tools you can use to help you get better rest – including avoiding screens and caffeine before bedtime.
